My bags are packed and I’m on my way!
For those of you who have followed our blog for some time, you likely know what this means. For those of you who have just stumbled upon this blog, welcome! I am officially hitting the road for our backpacking adventure.
This is something we dreamed up years ago and the time has finally come. We thought the time had come before, but then COVID came along with another agenda. Needless to say, 5 years later and we’ve finally arrived at this day!
When we had originally decided to go backpacking, we were just finishing up a project in Texas and it was just going to be the two of us. That’s all changed though and now there will be 3-4 of us (at least).
After having our original trip paused indefinitely due to COVID I moved to the UK for a project and while I may have missed out on some memories back in Madison, I made plenty of new ones here. I can’t thank the people I met in Bristol or Manchester enough for making my time in England special. I don’t know how I would have survived the last 8 months if weren’t for them. And while I am excited to be heading out, it is slightly bittersweet. The team I got to work with in Manchester was truly incredible and I can’t wait to see them again (Chris^3 for lyfe).
So… what’s next? Not a damn clue outside of escaping the normal confines of corporate culture. If nothing else, this pandemic has made me realize how much I missed being on the road and spontaneity that comes with travel. As of now, we only have the next few weeks booked.
We’ll be starting in Peru with Machu Picchu before heading to Latin America until mid-September. Following this we “plan” on doing a month in Europe before jetting over to Asia for the foreseeable future. As plans go though, we only have accomodation booked through Peru and flights booked through a one-way ticket to Paradise (aka Italy). If you like the sound of this, make like a desperate man and slide into our DMs. Unlike most intelligent women, we’ll actually respond and probably even invite you come meet up with us 🙂
Life is too short to say “I’ll live tomorrow.”
Take advantage of the time you have now, because you never know when your time is going to be up.
Go explore. Follow your dreams. Discover everything.
